“when through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees…”

‘Wild Church’ is a new way of being Church outside, it’s about discovering God through his beautiful creation, and making connections between our faith and the world around us.  This way of being Church is particularly suited to children who are such naturals when it comes to awe and wonder, but Wild Church is for anyone who finds being outside a helpful way to connect with God.  The emphasis at St Matthias is on exploration and discovery, on using all our senses to glimpse God at work in the world.

Planting our Covid memorial tree during Wild Church, October 2020

Wild Church takes place once a month, usually in the church garden at St Matthias, but sometimes the venue will change depending on the weather and the theme we will be exploring.  Information for the next Wild Church will be posted on the notice board at St Matthias, and you will also be able to find out more on the ‘Events’ page of the website.

Don’t forget to wear weather appropriate clothing, and feel free to bring a folding chair if you think you may need a seat.  We always include a craft activity at Wild Church, and there is cake and tea/juice to enjoy afterwards before we go home.   We look forward to welcoming you soon!
